Canterbury Provincial Gathering 2024

There will not be an Annual Gathering until 2026, so a day event for members in Canterbury Province is planned this year.  It will be held at the Kings Centre in Oxford on Saturday 22nd June.  The venue is in walking distance of the railway station, has parking and is on a bus route.  So far, about 300 members have expressed an interest.  The rough timing is expected to be 10am coffee, 11am start, finishing at around 4.30pm.  The aim of the event is fellowship, faith and sharing information from around the dioceses.  There will also be hymns, stalls, a Christian bookshop and afternoon entertainment from a Christian comedian.  Full details should be available at the end of March and the tickets will be available from Eventbrite.  In the meantime, email enquiries can be made to mugathering2024@muoxford.org.uk.

Modern Day Slavery

For Anti-Slavery Day, 18th October 2021, Mothers’ Union members and friends knitted a chain of over 10,000 links.  Each link represents a victim of modern day slavery in Leicestershire.  The chain was created to help us understand the enormous impact that slavery has on individuals and our community.  Whilst knitting these links, members of Mothers’ Union have been praying for these victims and for an end to their enslavement.  We hope that they encourage you to pray too.

In March 2022, the chain was displayed at the Diocese of Leicester Community of the Tree of Life during 24 hours of prayer for the victims of modern day slavery and the campaign to end it.
